When Therapy Meets The Soul
Not everyone who goes to therapy is interested in deep healing. They often want a “fix” moreso than a proverbial hero’s journey. You can’t blame them, either. We have ALL been born, raised, and indoctrinated into a world built on quick fixes, fast food, efficiency models and “how to” guides to wellness.
We have all, many times, gotten ourselves lost in the mire of searching for the answer, the cure, the medicine — we look everywhere for the holy grail but inside.
We look to the doctors, the experts, the self-help books, the teachers….and yes, we look to the therapists.
But what happens when the therapist, through their own soul journey, discovers an inner passion for the real healing?
What happens when the the healer is no longer aligned with models of template-driven therapy that focus on outcome-oriented symptom reduction? Is it even possible to run a clinical practice that honours what Thomas Moore calls care of the soul?
The answer is YES, it is absolutely possible!
It’s safe to answer the call of your soulful inner knowing. And it’s time. I cannot guarantee it will be easy, but I can guarantee that with commitment, doors will open that you never thought possible. And you’ll recognize the deep truth behind the phrase “healer, heal thyself.”
In meeting your power, you’ll discover that you alone are the answer. YOU are the sacred medicine. And when that sacred medicine is brought into the soul-domain of the counselling room…well, that’s what they call a game-changer.
